When I was at school I used to ask so many questions to my teachers at every class.
It looked like I was not afraid of them. That was the reason why my classmates sometimes came to me to tell me the questions they wanted to ask the teachers but they did not have the courage to do it.
So… which are some of our questions? and where are we looking for the answers to those questions? To find the right answer to those questions will determine the meaning, purpose and destiny of our lives.
Which are some of those questions?
Who am I?
What is my value?
Why am I here?
Do I have a purpose?
How should I live?
How can I face challenges?
The book of Ephesians tells us the answers and brings us into the heart of those questions.
God Himself is longing to answer to our questions. He wants us to know Him in such a way that we become secure of who we are, why are we here and how we can live for His glory.
Our life is like a tree. And the quality of our tree is determined by the answers of those questions. If we do not know who we are and what is our value and purpose in life our tree will be weak, without shadow and fruit, and it will be vulnerable before the storms.
What does Ephesians say that is the source of our answers?
“…Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong” 3:17
When the Bible talks about love, most of the times, it talks about God Himself.
He is love. And when we say that the source of our answers is “love”, we are saying that the source of our answers is God Himself. And when we are talking about God’s love we are also talking about all that He has done for us and all that He constantly does for us.
Who we are?
“God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure” 1:5
We have a family in Him. We have a home! We are safe.
We have a Dad, a Brother and a Friend! (It is how I see the Trinity :)
We are sons and daughters of God!
We are not alone. God, our Father, is always near to us.
Jesus brought us near, to God Himself.
What is our value?
“Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence” 3:12
We can approach to God. He is willing to listen to us. He is available for us. He is waiting for us. He accepts us and His loving eyes are ready to welcome us into His presence.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ…” 2:10
We are God’s masterpiece, the Work of His hands, being anew in Jesus.
We are precious for Him.
Do I have a purpose?
“…He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” 2:10
God has great plans for us. He has dreamed with us fulfilling good things with Him and for Him. In this journey of knowing Him, He will reveal to us His eternal and loving plans for us.
How should I live?
“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God” 4:1
Live a life of dignity.
“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourself united in the Spirit, binding yourself together with peace” 4:2-3
Live in love, communion and peace with one another!
“Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church” 4:15
How can I face challenges?
“…Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil” 6:10
The belt of truth
God’s righteousness
Walking in peace
The shield of faith
The helmet of Salvation
The Sword of the Spirit
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion
Let’s come back to the Source of our answers!
“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully” 3:18-19
